Born Henry Michael Adams, he was the eldest of 12 children born to Mathias Adams and Anna M. Weins. Remarkably, seven of nine of those children who reached adulthood dedicated their lives to God and took their vows to serve the Catholic Church.

Fr. Henricus Adams was a Catholic Jesuit brother and is buried in the same cemetery as his younger brother.
