My 2nd great-grandmother, Mary Jane (Smith) Harmon was the 3rd of 6 children born to Sarah Louvina Simmons and William Henry Smith.

She and William Alexander "Willie or Wede" Harmon Jr were married October 7, 1886 in Ozark, Arkansas.

Harmon Family Reunion

Mrs. Mary Jane Harmon had as guests Friday, July 18, her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Mattox from Ozark, Ark., and their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Fay Mattox and grandson, Kenneth, Glendora, Calif. Mrs. Harmon's sister, Mrs. Nancy Evans from Chickasha also is visiting her.

The sons, daughters and grandchildren planned to gather at Mrs. Harmon's home for the reunion. Others attending were: Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Ledbetter and children, Noritta and Guy T., Carmi, Ill.; Mrs. H. A. Longino and daughters Ruth, Dorotha and Etholyn, Ardmore; Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Smith, Mrs. Ella Williams and Ervin Harmon, all of Davis. Two guests were present, Misses Melba Gene and Fern Tidwell of Davis.

Mrs. M.J. Harmon, Davis Pioneer, Passes After Extended Illness

Mrs. Mary J. Harmon, 79, passed away at her home in this city at 2:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, 1950, after an extended illness. The immediate cause of her death was a heart attack.

Services were held at the Methodist church at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Rev. Hershel W. Hall officiating. Burial was in Green Hill cemetery under the direction of the Bahners.

Pall bearers, most of them Legionnaires were: Price Hunt, W.J. Dixon, Willie Warren, Duane Duck, Dewey Lockleer and Grover Mulkey. Honorary: L.E. Chaudoin, H.D. Mathews and John L. Rogers.

Mrs. Harmon was a pioneer resident of Davis. She was born in Arkansas, July 2, 1871, and was married to W.A. Harmon at Ozark, Ark., in 1886. He preceded her in death many years. She had been a member of the Methodist church since girlhood.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Henry Williams, Davis, Okla., and Mrs. H.A. Longino, Ardmore; two sons, Ervin Harmon, Davis, and Luster Harmon, Oakland, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Nancy Evans, Chickasha, and one brother, Sidney Smith, La Habra, Calif.

Out-of-town relatives attending the funeral were: Mrs. L.E. Shields, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Boyd McCaskill, Borger, Texas; Mrs. Nancy Evans, Mrs. Sam Waganer, Mrs. Lois Evans and daughters Janet and Betty, all of Chickasha; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bush and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. James Simms, Mr. and Mrs. L.L. Longino, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Longino, all of Ardmore.
