Alvin J. (Jack) Doss, 39, died at Fayettesville, N. C., at 2 p.m. Saturday. He had moved to that city from Logansport three weeks ago.
Doss formerly operated a service station and was a member of Bethel Tabernacle.
He was born July 16, 1927 in Arkansas.
Survivors include the wife, Mabel; three sons, Jerry, in service in North Carolina; James, in service in Oklahoma, and Billy Joe, at home; two daughters, Elaine, New Orleans, La., and Terri Lynn, at home; the mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Pope, 825 N. Sixth St.; two sisters, Mrs. Leola Anderson, and Mrs. Frances Roderus, both of Gary; three half-brothers, Junior Pope, Lafayette; Floyd, 217 Linden Ave., and Lonnie, 825 N. Sixth St.; three half-sisters, Mrs. Geneive Vail, Hamburg, Ark.; Mrs. Joyce Lowson, Glenwood, Miss., and Mrs. Jackie Walters, 2608 Emmett Dr.; two step-sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Lagston, 637 Twelfth St., and Mrs. Hazel Etue, Peru; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Fisher funeral home with the Rev. James Holt officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
