Funeral services were conducted in the McLean Methodist church Monday afternoon for Mrs. Martin Bloomquist, 58, who succumbed November 11, in the Osmond Hospital. Rev. Cecil B. Green officiated. Internment was in the Magnet cemetery.
Mrs. Bloomquist was taken seriously ill on November 4 and was hospitalized. Her condition grew rapidly worse. When her condition became critical, her son Neil flew home from Germany and joined the other members of the family at her bedside.
She came to McLean as a young girl and taught school at Surprise before returning to the McLean and Wausa communities where she spent the remainder of her life. She was a member of the Christian Church in her youth, but later transferred her membership to the McLean Methodist Church, where she was a faithful member the rest of her life.
Florilla Mae Ludden daughter of Louis and Gertrude Ludden was born at Surprise July 6,1897. She spent her childhood at Surprise and in 1910 moved to the McLean community with her parents. After receiving her education in this community, she returned to Surprise and taught school. On June 4, 1919 she was united in marriage with Martin J. Bloomquist. They have lived their entire married life in the McLean and Wausa communities.
Surviving are her husband; four sons, Arvid of McLean, Eldred of Randolph, Cpl. Neil who was stationed in Germany, Duane of McLean and daughter Janice of McLean; two sisters, Louise Spaford of Glendale, Calif. And Eunice Drunker of Ulysses; brothers Leslie of Surprise, Roswell of Lincoln.
