Steven Hahn, 32, of Athens dies.

Athens - Steven B. Hahn, of Athens, husband of Susan Simonds Hahn, who was formerly of Jacksonville, died 7:08 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, at Memorial Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 20, 1955, in Astoria, N.Y., son of Wendell and Ruth Mittler Hahn. His parents survive in Springfield.

He married Susan Simonds May 29, 1976, in Jacksonville. She survives with three sons, Henry, Peter and Timothy, all at a home; a sister, Mrs. Nancy Brown of Arlington, Texas; two grandmothers, Mrs. Anna Mittler of Jackson Heights, N.Y. and Mrs. Edna W. Hahn of Springfield; two aunts and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Hahn attended Western Illinois University and graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He was employed by the Illinois State Journal Register as State House reporter for nine years and was currently employed by United Press International (UPI) as legislative correspondent.

He was a member of the Springfield Unity Church, Petersburg Clown Band, was an Eagle Scout and former Scout Master in Athens and was a volunteer broom maker at New Salem State Park.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Indian Point Presbyterian Church near Athens. Internment will be in Indian Point Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Mott and Henning Funeral Home in Athens. Memorials are suggested to the Indian Point Presbyterian Church, Springfield Unity Church or Athenian Community Park.
