Fourth District San Bernardino County Supervisor 1920-1933.
He was born to Lorenzo D. and Delia(Keetch)Cheney. Husband of Gertrude B.Cheney, they had no children.
Mr. Cheney came to San Bernardino in 1907 as a roead foreman of engines for the Santa Fe railroad. It was during this period that he formed some of the fast friendships which played an important part in the political life which he unexpectedly entered into later years.He retired from active railroad service and moved to Colton.
From retirement he became active in community public affairs. Governor W.D.Stephens appointed Mr.Cheney to County Supervisor, March 15,1920, when Ray L.Riley left the office. In 1922 he was reelcted and again in 1926 and 1930.
Mr.Cheney's particular interest was the County Hospital and he served as chairman of the Hospital committee for several years. It was on a hospital inspection that he suffered his first stroke, later another would kill him..
H was a member of the Masonic orginazation and Colton Rotary Club.
