Asa Hewen Jr.'s parents were Asa Hewen Sr. & Rachael Sturdevant.
Asa was 1 of 9 children having 5 sister's and 3 brother's Clarissa(1st) who died at 2years of age, Clarissa Ann(2nd), Loring, Orange, Selena, Phidelia(1st) who died at 1 year of age, Lorenzo D., & Phidelia I.(2nd).
At the age of 39 years, 10 months, and 15 days old he married Catharine J. Huddleston and had 2 children. A son Evander Shelly Hewen and a daughter May Hewen.
Then when he was 65 years, 8 months, and 19 days old he married for a second time to Elizabeth Jane Quinn-Brown and had 5 children, 4 daughters Effie May, Amy Polino, Bertha Parlee, Pearl Phidelia & 1 son Grover Gough Hewen.
Asa served in the Civil War in the 18 Illinois Infantry Union.
Due to Civil War service he contracted Lung and Kidney Disease from exposure and died at the age of 78 years, 4 months, and 21 days.
He is buried next to his second wife Elizabeth in the Culpepper Cemetery and has a newer headstone bought by my grandfather Jim Kidd.

Gravesite Details
My grandfather is the grandson inscribed and the bottom of the head stone. He was unsure at the time of the birth and death dates however I have been able to find thoes thru death and birth records.
