James W. Carpenter was born in Texas, July 28, 1874. His father, A. F. Carpenter, and his grandmother, Mrs. Farris, who survive him, now live at Wapanucka, Oklahoma. His mother, Elizabeth Carpenter, has been dead some years. Brother Carpenter married Miss Allie, daughter of Brother A. R. Reed, in Antlers, December 9, 1906. They nearly immediately went to Jumbo to live, and resided there continuously. They had two children, a boy aged three, and a girl aged two. Brother Carpenter was made a Master Mason in Antlers Lodge No. 39, A. F. & A. M., June 6, 1906, and was a Mason of good standing and good report. He was a genial friend, a faithful worker, a good citizen, a loving father, and a tender and considerate husband. He died at his post, in the execution of his duty, in the awful accident which occurred at Jumbo Mine in this County, November 28, 1910, and was buried at the Odd Fellows' Cemetery near Antlers November 30, 1910, with full Masonic honors.


Wherefore, Resolved, That, we the members of Antlers Lodge, No. 39, A. F. & A. M., desire to place of record our deep regret at the shocking tragedy which ended his life, our sincere sorrow at his loss as a companion, and to express our heartfelt sympathy with his bereaved widow and parents; and we instruct the secretary of this lodge to furnish the widow of our deceased brother with a manuscript copy of these obituary resolutions.
