He was born Aug. 28, 1901, in Elgin, the son of Albert and Albertina Horn Henning, and had lived in Elgin all his life.
He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church of Elgin.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald Henning of Tempe, Ariz., and Jerry Henning of Elgin; three daughters, Carolyn Deem of Billings, Mont., Joyce Kappen and Janet Dunning, both of Elgin; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Emma Henning of Elgin and Ruth Frellsen of Pennsylvania; and one brother, Max Henning of Elgin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Ward Henning, whom he married in 1926; two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the Stout Funeral Home, Elgin, the Rev. Richard E. Oliver officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today in the funeral home, Thursday all day and Friday until the time of services.
