Member of the pioneering Sawyer Family of Grand Blanc Township. In the spring of 1836, he left Ontario County, New York and came to the wilderness of southern Genesee County with his parents, Col. Edward Sawyer and Almira Kellogg Sawyer. Edward A. Sawyer was a farmer, a long serving member of his community school board and an influential supporter for bringing the railroad to Grand Blanc.
