She married Richard Henry Thompson on Sep 26 1896, Clayton, Arenac, Michigan. She worked as a cook in the Lumber Camps while her children were young. And in addition to her 5 children at the time, she took in her 3 younger teenaged brothers after her mother passed. Moving to Detroit, she ran a boarding house and continued to cook for a large number of boarders.
At 84 years, she passed away after deteriorating health because of Parkinson's Disease.
