Elmer E. Rice, retired carpenter and highly respected resident of the city, died Friday, March 13, 1931, at 5 p. m. at his home, 103 East Wallace avenue, as a result of complications that followed a stroke suffered six years ago. He has been in failing health ever since that time. Mr. Rice was born in Mercer County, Pa., May 24, 1861, and was 69 years of age. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Rice. He had been a resident of this city all his life, where he was well and favorably known in a wide circle of friends. He was a member of the Central Presbyterian church. His wife. Laura J. Anderson Rice, preceded him in death. He leaves to survive him the following daughters: Mrs. A. C. Kelliher at whose home he died, Mrs. Charles McCollum and Mrs. K. W. Brenneman, all or this city; also, one sister, Mrs. Thomas Dangerfield of Youngstown, O., and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 31. 1931, at 2 p. m. at his late residence, 108 East Wallace Avenue, with his pastor. Dr. C. B. Wingerd, in charge. Interment will be made in Graceland cemetery.
