ALMA - Lois Jeanette Nerby, 95, of Alma died Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.
She was born Aug. 7, 1913, in the town of Rush River, St. Croix County, a daughter of Lewis and Hazel (Bakke) Rudesill.

On Oct. 16, 1934, Lois was united in marriage to Walter Jackson. To this union three children were born.Walter preceded Lois in death on Oct. 31, 1958. On July 25, 1964, Lois married Melvin "Bud" Nerby. Bud preceded Lois in death on Feb. 20, 1990.

In her later days Lois was an active member of Lyster Lutheran Church in the town of Nelson, Buffalo County, where she was involved wholeheartedly in the quilting club.

Lois is survived by two children, Helen (Walter) Hetchler of Rosholt and Walter (Jane) Jackson of Eau Claire; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a special friend, Roger "Humm" Deinger; two brothers, Dr. Robert Rudesill of Florida and Donald Rudesill of River Falls; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Walter and Bud; one son; one brother; and one sister.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma Chapel, with the Rev. Michael Vetsch, pastor of Lyster Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be later this spring at Scandinavian Lutheran Cemetery in Eau Claire.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
