Cerro Gordo, Ill, April 8---Phillip Dobson, one of the best known men of central Illinois died this morning at 5 oclock at his home in this city. Death was caused by cancer of the bowels. Mr. Dobson had been sick for some time. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon from the Presbyterian church, interment following in the Cerro Gordo cemetery.
Mr. Dobson was born in Yorkshire, England in 1833 and at the time of his death was 73 years of age. He came to America when he was 22 years of age and located on a farm near Jacksonville. He was married a short time before leaving England to Miss Isabelle Moreley. In 1866 he moved from Jacksonville and located on a farm near LaPlace. several years ago he moved to the farm on the edge of Cerro Gordo now occupied by R. M. Dobson.
About nine years ago he was marrried to Mrs. Laura Robinson of Decatur. Mrs. Robinson was a sister of Mrs. Ed. Allen and Mrs. Robert Ferguson of Decatur.
Mr. Dobson was the father of eight children, seven of whom are still living. They are Mrs. H. A. Boss of Cerro Gordo, Mrs. Andrew Ankrum of Fairland, Mrs. Warren Wheels of Cerro Gordo, R. M. Dobson of Cerro gordo, Mrs. Arthur lamb of Bement, Mrs. William Brandenburg and J. M. Dobson both of Cerro Gordo. There are also thirty one grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
