She taught school for 29 years, retiring from Longfellow School in Council Bluffs in 1970. She previously taught at Nishna Valley School in Hastings, as well as Malvern, Elliott and rural schools. She was an active member of the Malvern United Methodist Church and received numerous awards for her advocacy work for senior citizens.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, in 1999 and son David Churchman in 2002.
Survivors include son, Rev. L. Duane Churchman, and his wife, Darlene, of Osceola; daughter-in-law, Marlene Churchman of Denver, Colo.; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Mansfield-Hertz Funeral Home in Malvern. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Malvern United Methodist Church followed by a luncheon and burial in Malvern Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
