James W. "Jim" Strohman, 61, Duncansville, died unexpectedly Wednesday at his home. He was born in Altoona, son of Donald and Ruth (Steele) Strohman. He married Kathryn T. Gatesman April 15, 1968, in Bradford, Pa. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Jenna Strohman of Duncansville; two sons: James Strohman II and wife, Susan, of Wilmington, Del., and Ryan Strohman and wife, Lisa, of Altoona; four sisters: Sharon Luther of Coupon, Pamela Luther of Duncansville, Deborah Smith of Altoona and Shawna Reilly of Hollidaysburg; and a brother, Donald Strohman of Mechanicsburg. He was preceded in death by his father Jan. 10, 1990. He formerly was employed by Ollinger Brothers and as a route supervisor for Dolly Madison. Most recently he was employed as a salesperson by Chemsearch. Mr. Strohman was a 1965 graduate of Altoona High School and attended Penn State University and Juniata College. He served as a U.S. Navy corpsman from 1967-71 and served in the U.S. Army Reserve. Friends will be received from noon to the 2 p.m. funeral service Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, with Pastor Ken Anthony officiating. Interment at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
