Mary G. Eakin, 88, died Saturday at her home.
Born in Waterloo, in Linn County, she was a lifelong area resident. She was a homemaker and a lifetime member of the Peedee Memorial Evangelical Church. She enjoyed raising daffodils and hand feeding wildlife at her home.
Her husband, Alfred A. "Pete" Burbank, died in 1950. She married Melvin S. "Dick" Eakin in 1954; he died in 1987.
Survivors include her daughters, Alberta Jones of Monmouth and Twila Ware of Lake Oswego; sons, Alfred Burbank, Kenneth Burbank and Donavon Burbank, all of Monmouth; stepdaughter, Melva Hink of Idleyld Park, in Douglas County; stepson, Merle Eakin of Sutherlin; sister, Margurite Nice of Goshen; 18 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Peedee Memorial Evangelical Church. Interment will be in Womer Cemetery, Peedee. Contributions: to the church or Mennonite Home and Help Center in care of Bollman mortuary, Dallas.

Alfred Asa was a brother to Sarah May Burbank, who was Melvin Sylvester Eakin's first wife. Alfred Asa died in 1950. Sarah died in 1948. Melvin Sylvester Eakin then married Mary Goldie Burbank in 1954.
