George R. Parks
George R. Parks of 1814 Scott Street, Huntingdon, died at 12:09 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 1958, at the J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital. He had been in failing health for the past year and entered the hospital on May 6. He was born February 13, 1888 at Beavertown, a son of Isaac and Isabelle (Gordon) Parks. He was married to Ruby Ann Parks on March 20, 1911, at Johnstown. The deceased is survived by his wife and the following children: John P. Parks, McKeesport; Neal L. Parks, Huntingdon, R.D. 2; J. Pershing Parks, York; Mrs. Theodore (Mary) Boyer, Akron, Ohio; Mrs. John (Martha) Tonkovich, Canton, Ohio; Mrs. Charles (Lucille) Garner, Huntingdon, and Mrs. Richard (LaRue) Brenneman, Huntingdon. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Eva. There are 15 grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Wilbur Parks of San Diego, Calif., and Merle Parks of Erie, and one sister, Mrs. Robert (Edith) Corcelius[sic], Huntingdon. One sister preceded him in death. He was a member of the Stone Church of the Brethren. Mr. Parks had been employed in the maintainence[sic] department of Juniata College since 1926 and retired in 1956. He had resided in Huntingdon since 1922. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, from Brown’s in Huntingdon. The Rev. John C. Middlekauff, pastor of the Stone Church, will officiate. Interment will be made in the Riverview Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home after 7 p.m. this evening.
