Funeral for Newton Woods
This Afternoon

Newton Wood, 35, of Beaver, died at his home Friday night as a result of an injury he received three years ago. He had his back broken in a slate fall in 1941 in the Slab FOrk Coal Company Mine, and had never recovered from the injury.

His body was removed from the Rose Funeral Home yesterday to the home of his mother, Mrs. Arminta Wood, of Beaver, where it will remain until the funeral hour.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Little Vine Church at Beaver, today at 2:30 with the Rev. Eugene Nichols, of Sophia and The Rev. Owen Lilly, of Beaver, officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount View Cemetery.

Besides his mother he is survived by his wife; Mrs. Nellie Wood , and the following children all at home; Jo Ann, Delores, Maryland, Edward, , and Wilma Jewel.

He is survived by the following brothers and sisters; James Wood of Beaver; Wilson Wood, of Daniels; Lieutnant Franklin Wood; reported to be missing in the South Pacific; Mrs. Dorsey Foster, Beckley; Mrs. Cyrus Clark, of Beaver; Mrs. Edward Cooper, of Pemberton; and Mrs. Marion Stone, of Beaver.

Half brothers and sisters surviving include ; Lewis M. Wood. of Parkersburg; W. B. Wood, of Odd,' Mrs. Bert Callaway, of Eugene Oregon; and Mrs. Viola Hatcher, of Beckley.

Active pallbearers will be John Nichols, James Nichols, Henry Lilly, James Deeds, Fred Cook, Carl Wood, E.A. Redden and Howard Redden.
