By deed a tract of land 209 feet square situated in the northeast corner of the NE1/4 NW1/4, Sec 11, T 18, R 22 W Indian Meridian by E. A. Houston, C. (Cornelius) Elston and J. (John) B. Grindstead, Trustees for the Star Cemetery Association of Ellis County to John J. Vermillion (Bro-in-law of Carl M. Clary). 7 March 1910.

It has been reported that E.A. (possibly Elbert A.) Houston may have given the land for the cemetery initially. The late Daisy Dyke Wildman stated "There are many graves that are lost". She kept the records and cemetery plat until her death.
