Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Sat. at Salem Lutheran Church near Stephen with Pastor Curt Matz officiating. Interment will be in the Salem Church Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 P.M. Fri. with a 7 P.M. prayer service at the funeral home, and at the church one hour prior to services Sat. Helen Marie Anderson, the daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Benson) Berg, was born on October 15, 1918, in Augsburg Township of Marshall Co., near Stephen, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at the Salem Lutheran Church and was a life-long member there, being active in all her church's affairs. Helen attended the former Augsburg School near her home. On May 28, 1940, she was united in marriage to Hans A. Anderson at the Salem Church parsonage. The couple lived and farmed in Nelson Park Township of Marshall Co., near Karlstad, for many years. Helen was active in the former Karlstad Hospital Guild and was active in a variety of community affairs. Hans passed away March 14, 1998, and Helen continued to make her home in Karlstad. In 2004, she moved to St. Paul where she has since resided. Helen passed away at the Lakeridge Golden Living Center in St. Paul on Monday evening, March 9, 2009, at the age of 90 years, 4 months, and 24 days.
She is survived by one son: Roger (Dorothy), of St. Paul; one daughter: Carol (Quentin) Roth, of Huachuca, AZ.; four grandchildren: Dawn, Jill, Troy and Chan; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister: Mary Ann Henrickson, of Stephen; in addition to many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, seven brothers: Aldor, Walter, Raymond, Norman, Delbert, Chester and Albert, Jr.; and three sisters: Sally, Violet and Bernice.
