Maxine E. Fordham, 81, Havensville, died Jan. 6, 2006, at a Centralia care facility. She was born Oct. 15, 1924, at Vliets, the daughter of Merrill F. and Leah Wallace Bullock. She attended Havensville schools and graduated in 1943 from Washburn High School in Topeka. Mrs. Fordham worked at the Sunflower Munitions Plant in DeSoto during World War II. After the war, she and her husband moved to a farm south of Havensville, where they made their home and she worked as a nurse's aide for Community Hospital Onaga for many years. She was a member of Bucks Grove United Methodist Church, a former member of the Auxiliary to American Legion Post 333 at Havensville and the Order of Eastern Star. She married Darrell "Jerry" Fordham on Dec. 26, 1942, at Holton. He died Nov. 4, 1998. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Kermit Bullock and Merrill C. Bullock; and a sister, Laura Shove. Survivors include many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 10 at Tessendorf-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga. Burial will follow in Bucks Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Fordham will lie in state Jan. 9 and until service time Jan. 10 at the funeral home, where family and friends will meet from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Jan. 9.
