Louis E. Vitello

— Services for Louis E. Vitello, 92, Logansport, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Kroeger Funeral Home.
He died at 12:45 p.m., Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, in Autumn Glen, Greencastle, Ind.
Born Oct. 24, 1914, in Logansport, he was the son of Angelo and Angeline Marzaro Vitello. He was married April 13, 1942, in Logansport, to Thelma M. Eikelburner, who preceded in death April 13, 1979.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Vitello was stationed in the Middle East for 2 years and an additional year and a half in Egypt. He received EAME Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct and World War II Victory Medals. He had been a member of VFW Post 3790, American Legion Post 60 and the Logansport Elks and Eagles Lodges. He enjoyed going out to eat and talking with people.
A graduate of Logansport High School, Mr. Vitello attended business college and was the retired parts manager for the WSE (later Burger) Chevrolet-Buick automobile dealership in downtown Logansport.
He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Dr. Patricia Ann and her husband, William Waltman, Greencastle, and Barbara Jean and her husband, Steven Despot, Brownsburg; three grandchildren, Gregory Despot and his wife, Emily, Brownsburg, Christina Despot, Indianapolis, and John Lowes, Logansport; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Lucas Despot; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Grandson Marcus Jason Lowes; two brothers, William Vitello and Anthony Vitello; and three sisters, Genevieve Bauer, Belle Venice and Anna DeRosa, preceded in death.
Father Christopher Weldon will officiate at the services. Burial will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call from noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
