Warren Alden Hawks, 87, of Lockwood, MO, passed away on March 15, 2009, after a short illness. He was born on February 15, 1922, in Arcola, Mo. to Charles Perry and Rachel Lea (Withrow) Hawks. Warren graduated from Lockwood High School in 1941. He worked in the aircraft industry in Wichita, Kan. before joining the Merchant Marines and later the Navy during World War II. He was stationed at Seal Beach, Calif. Warren was united in marriage to Norine Hixon in 1947. They made their home north of Lockwood where he was engaged in farming all of his life. He was a member of the Lockwood American Legion Post #372 Roy E. Carr and the Lockwood United Methodist Church. Warren was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Madge Wilson, Mary Bettis, and Lois Barrow; three brothers, Drury, Charles, and Thomas; and one son-in-law, James Roseman. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Norine of the home; three daughters, Connie Roseman of Greenfield, Mo., Dixie Weimer and her husband Randy of Lockwood, Mo., and Mitzie Zerr and her husband Marty of Springfield, Mo.; two sons, Roger Hawks and his wife Ronda of Lockwood, Mo. and Robert Hawks and his wife Kay of Oklahoma City, Okla.; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one sister, Fern Martin of Topeka, Kan.; one brother-in-law, Bobby Hixon and his wife Nadine; two sisters-in-law, Myrl Hawks and Faye Hawks; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2009, in Lockwood United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Lockwood Cemetery.
