Ted William Drost, Sr., 53, 997 28th St. died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon, March 16, 1996.

He was born Jan. 22, 1943, in Altoona, the son of Nicholas and Verline (Hunter) Drost. He married Connie Ortiz, July 22, 1962, in the Philippines.

Mr. Drost was employed as a caseworker for the state Department of Welfare.

He served as a senior master sergeant during the Vietnam War. Mr. Drost was a member of Portage Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons, Scottish Rite, Jaffa Temple past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and president of the Eldorado Kiwanis Club.

He was a member of the Pennsylvania Social Services union, Swiss Rifle Club, Newburg Fire Hall, Pennsylvania Association of Fraternal Clubs, United Veterans Association, Unter Uns Society, Bavarian Aid Society, The Eagles and Cesare Battisti.

Mr. Drost was an avid bowler.

Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Sherry Manley of Altoona: a son Ted W. Jr., at home; two brothers: Nicholas and Stephen, both of Altoona, and a grandson.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 today a the. Merrill Smith Funeral Home, Broad Avenue.
