Lilburn Latimer was a son of Samuel Benjamin and Georgianna Snead Ford. Lilburn was a self-taught "engineer", always had a job around machinery. He designed a conveyor belt, and it was the longest indoor conveyor belt on the East Coast. Latimer was a master mechanic millwright and later became plant manager for Sunshine Biscuit Company. Latimer died of a Coronary Occlusion at his desk while at work. He had walked up five flights of steps right before he died. Lilburn was a 3rd degree Master Mason and member of Richmond Lodge #10. He was a member in good standing at the time of his death.
