Ambrose Alonzo Carlton was born July 19, 1871 in Monroe County, Indiana to Hosea Alfonso Carlton and Mary Ann Delop. He married Ida Mae Long November 11, 1895 in Montgomery County, Iowa. Five known children were born to them, Maurice Merrill, Anne G., Olive Grace, Leta Emma, and Harry Alfonso. He died March 15, 1955 in Lincoln, Lancaser County, Nebraska and is buried in the Grant Cemetery.
