Robert H. Barnes, age 79, passed away on February 23, 1990 at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah.


Born June 14, 1910 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of Fred Henry and Maud Patrick Barnes.


He graduated from the LDS High School and the University of Utah. Served an LDS mission to France from 1931 to 1934. Married Mary Cannon on September 7, 1935 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.


Served additional missions with his wife to the Washington D.C. Temple from May of 1981 to October of 1982, and to the Church Museum of History and Art in Salt Lake City. Worked for the Utah State Tax Commission, A S & R, and Kennecott Copper. An Eagle Scout, he was active in Boy Scouting for over 50 years and was awarded the Silver Beaver in 1944.


Survived by his wife; two daughters, Mary Pearson and Kathryn Vernon Luke; three sons, Pat, Ted and Bill Barnes; 12 grandchildren.


Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 1990 at 12 noon in the Salt Lake 18th Ward Chapel, 135 A Street. Friends may call at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple Street, on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday at the Ward Chapel one hour prior to the services.
Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery.
