Delbert Franklin Carter, 78, of East Wenatchee, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2006, following an extended illness. He was born April 23, 1928, to John and Lola Carter at Wenatchee. He worked with his father who was a well digger in the Wenatchee Valley and rural areas. He moved to Spokane in 1947, where he met and married Bonnie Johnson. Del worked for the Labors Union as a construction worker until he retired to take care of his wife, Bonnie, when she became ill in 1979. She passed away in 1984. Del's favorite pastime was Casinos in Reno and Spokane.

He became a preferred customer. He always had alot of stories to tell about his travels. For the past year and a half, he lived with his brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Ardis Carter. His niece, Diane Sjolander and nephew, Carl Harris took care of him. He was surrounded by family and friends at the end.

Del is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, John W. "Jack" and Ardis Carter of East Wenatchee; sister, Viona "Vickey" Johnson of Spokane Valley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 27, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at Telford's Chapel of the Valley. A private Interment will take place at Spokane Memorial Gardens. The casket will remain closed at all times. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
