James W. RAYNES, 47, died at his home at 1118 Orange street Thursday morning at 12:15 o'clock after having suffered a heart attack. He had apparently been in good health.
Mr. RAYNES was employed at the Abilene air base as an hydraulic engineer since opening the field. Prior to that time he operated the Raynes and Gentry garage here.
Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Lavada and a half-sister, Mrs. Wylie CLACK, all of Abilene, a brother, W. J. RAYNES of Ada, Okla., two half-brothers, M. L. of Weinert and O. E. of Lubbock.
Dr. J. O. HAYMES will conduct services from St. Paul Methodist church Friday afternoon at 3:30. Laughter funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Gene MOORE, J. M. AREY, Meredith GENTRY, Jack REYNOLDS, Homer CHAPMAN Sr., John H. ADAMS, J. C. KING, Leroy POTTER.
