Lenora Westfall

Catheys Valley - Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Stratford Evans Funeral Merced Funeral Chapel for Lenora Adeline Westfall, 99, a Cathey's Valley homemaker, who died Friday at Merced at a Merced convalescent hospital.

Chaplain Charles Hoffmeister of Merced Community Medical center will officiate. Burial will be at the Mariposa Cemetery in the Oddfellows section.

Born March 1, 1889 in Oakvale district, mariposa County family who traveled from Illinois by ox drawn wagons to Cathey's Valley in 1854. Her father, Jacob Probasco helped build the Mariposa County Courthouse.

She was a member of Merced Ophir Rebekah Lodge and a member of Past Noble Grand Butterfly Rebekah Lodge in Mariposa. She was a member of the Rebekah lodges in Mariposa and Merced for 58 years. She also was a member of Central presbyterian Church the American Association of Retired Persons and a life member of the Mariposa County Historical Society.

Survivors include a son, Cliford J. Westfall of Cathey's Valley, four daughters, Pauline Weimer of Walnut Creek, Lila Browne of San Jacinto, Beulah Douglas of Merced and Bunny Byers of Glendale; 11grandcildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
