J.L. Kittrell
KITTRELL Mr. J.L. Kittrell -- born November 16, 1922, passed away on March 18, 2009. He was born in Waynesboro, MS. After graduating from Quitman High School, he served with the CCC teaching reading during the depression. Serving as an Aviation Machinist, 3rd Class, with the Navy during WWII, he flew many surveillance missions aboard PBYs. He worked for Scott Paper Company as Chemical Engineer for 30 years. He was a dedicated lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Mobile, where he served as a Deacon and Chairman of the Deacons. He volunteered for many years with the American Red Cross. He gladly served as a docent of the Mobile museum. He was always willing to help others fulfilling a life of service. He was a wonderful father. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Carolyn McDonnieal; three children John L. Kittrell (Cynthia), Carol Broughton (Jerry) and Lynn Pittman (Trip); seven grandchildren: Kathryn Kittrell, Amy Kittrell, Jay Broughton, Whitfield Broughton, Reynolds Pittman, Lee Pittman and Virginia Pittman. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the First Baptist Church of Mobile, 806 Government Street, Mobile, AL 36602. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Pine Crest Funeral Home with graveside service and interment following at 11:00 a.m. in Pine Crest Cemetery.
