Judith Charlotte Carlson, 92, Pine River, died March 15, 2009, at the Whispering Pines Good Samaritan Center in Pine River.

She was born Dec. 24, 1916, in Jenkins to Swan and Julia (Aasved) Ness. She graduated from Pine River High School. On April 24, 1937, in Pequot Lakes, Judy was united in marriage to Cecil C. Carlson, Sr. They owned and operated Carlson's Texaco gas station n Pine River from 1952 to 1962. She then worked as a clerk at Silbaugh's Department Store in Pine River for many years. She enjoyed fishing, knitting, crocheting, sewing and painting. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge and First Lutheran Church in Pine River.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Sr., on Jan. 12, 1983; brother, Oliver Ness; sisters, Johanna Halbom, Gertrude Harris, Olea Zigmund, Signa Young, Jenny Bissett and Bertha Virchow; and her parents, Swan and Julia (Aasved) Ness.

Judy is survived by her son, Cecil C. (Leanne) Carlson Jr., Blaine; daughters, Marilynn (Gerald) Severson, Cameron, Wis.; Linda Portner, St. Michael; Barbara Brezinsky, Pine River; Sandra Schaefer, Baxter; and Pamela Winner, Albany, Ore.; grandchildren, Connie, Kari, Lori, Katherine, Debra, Eric, Andrew, Scott, Tad, Tracy, Jennifer, Jason, Jeffrey, Gesina and Joran; great-grandchildren, April, Jessica, Jacob, Dylan, Jaron, Ashley, Anna, Peyton, Holly, Olivia, Brooklyn, Adreanna, Alexxis, Ashlynne, Josh and Jeanine; special sister-in-law, Irene Myres, Pequot Lakes; special niece Dorothy (Dale) Brown, Jenkins; and many other special relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Sat., March 21, at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Pine River with the Rev. Bonnie Lomen officiating. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery in Pine River. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church and will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church.
