KICKAPOO, IL - Beatrice B. Gillespie, 88, of Kickapoo passed away at 8:45 p.m. on Sunday, May 2, 2010, at Morton Terrace Nursing Home in Morton.

She was born on April 29, 1922, in Maldon, Mo., to George and Elizabeth (Kinsey) Minar. She married Clifton R. Miller in 1940. She later married Paul Gillespie on July 7, 1975, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 31, 1998, in Peoria.

Also preceding her in death were one son, Keith R. Miller; two brothers, Roy and Lee Minar; and three sisters, Lola Berry, Blanche Collier and Naomi McCormick.

Surviving are her son, Clifton "Bill" (Barbara) Miller of Kickapoo; her daughter-in-law, Imy Miller of East Peoria; one brother, Clyde (Helen) Minar of Anaheim, Calif.; one sister, Lucille Reents of Kentucky; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Beatrice worked as a beautician for many years in her own salon and then with Beetler Beauty Salon. She then later worked as a printer with Fleming-Potter.

She was a past president of the Peoria County Sheriffs Posse Auxiliary, a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Alta Chapter, and Daughters of the Nile Otho Temple 36 and of Abbas Grotto.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery (Jubilee Township), rural Brimfield. The Rev. Jack Thompson will officiate. Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pets for Seniors, P.O. Box 64, Edwards, IL 61528.
