Marks, Henry Smith, John and Jeff Powell. A member of Merced Carpenter's Union. Friends are invited to attend funeral services Tuesday, Jan. 27, from the Ivers and Alcorn Mission Chapel at 2:00 o'clock PM, Rev. Donald H. Baldwin officiating. Burial Plainsburg Cemetery.
Roscoe's headstone indicates a birthdate of Oct. 5, 1882. However, on his draft card for World War I he gives his birthday as Oct. 30, 1883 while his World War II draft registration card says Feb 14, 1883. His half-brother Jesse Powell reported his birth year as 1899 when joining the Navy although other documentation indicates 1898, and his sister Pearl also may have an incorrect birthdate on her headstone. Roscoe indicated on his WW II draft card that he was born in Yell County, Arkansas.
