Violet T. McCormick, 87, North Whitefield, died Sat., July 29, at the Kennebec Valley Medical Center Skilled Care Unit, Gardiner Division. She was born in Portland on July 13, 1908, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Luke Tobin. She was a graduate of Farmington Normal School and the University of Maine at Orono.
Mrs. McCormick taught school in Whitefield and Gardiner school districts for many years. She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, North Whitefield, and the Delta Kappa Gamma Honor Society.
She was predeceased by her husband, Francis B. McCormick, who died in 1964, and by her brother, Charles Tobin.
Mrs. McCormick is survived by her son, C. Michael McCormick of North Whitefield; her daughters, Mrs. Kathleen Bechard of Augusta and Mrs. Margaret Caron of Merrimack, N.H.; her brother, Joseph Tobin of South Gardiner; her sisters, Margaret Chase of North Whitefield, Mary Olsen of Hallowell, and Denyse Stultz of Augusta; eight grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Aug. 1 at St. Denis Catholic Church, North Whitefield. Burial followed in the family lot in Calvary Cemetery, North Whitefield.
