John and Euphemia were the parents of six children:

Note 1: In "The Means Family of America" (Foglesang, 1972), page 101, John is listed as the eldest son of Foster Means and Margaret Avey. He was not a "Jr." His Uncle John Means was born in 1836 and first married Nancy Miller (born 1822) ca. 1842; thus, he could not have been their child.
Note 2: John served in the Civil War as a member of Company A, 105th Regiment, PA Volunteers.
