Mr. Aubrey Ethen Adams, age 83, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2009, at his home in Carthage, MS after a lengthy illness.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2009, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wilcox Funeral Home in Carthage, MS. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, Starling Center Road, Carthage, MS. Brother Bobby Barfoot and Brother Shane McGivney will officiate.
Mr. Adams was born March 8, 1926 in Conehatta, MS in Newton County to parents William John and Eula Brown Adams.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Curtis; and three sisters, Edith Adams, Evelyn Bell (W.K.) and Mildred Blackburn (Ned).
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Grimes Adams; five children, Larry Adams and wife, Barbara of Alexandria, VA, Joseph Clay Hatton, Jr. of Jackson, MS, Lynne Adams Sabin and husband, John of Bay St. Louis, MS, Jeanne Hatton Palmer and husband, Jon of Madison and Beth Adams of Jackson, MS; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Adams owned a White's Auto Store in Hazlehurst for 4 years. He was employed by Sears Roebuck and Company for 35 years, first in Production Control at Mississippi Products then in Commercial and Retail Sales at the Sears Department Store in Jackson, MS. He retired in 1987 and spent his time traveling in the U. S. and Europe. He was a member of The Loins Club of Hazlehurst, Tje North Jackson Exchange Club and the Avion Travelcade Club. He was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church in Jackson and later New Hope Baptist Church in Carthage.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The New Hope Baptist Church Building Fund, Starling Center Road, Carthage, MS.
