She was born June 7, 1956, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Ronald and Zelma McMurdie Saunders. She married Leo Flaherty on July 9, 1985, in Springfield.
She attended Lane Community College and delivered newspapers in Eugene and Springfield for The Register-Guard for more than 20 years.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Chris of Springfield; two brothers, Jimmy Saunders and Kevin Saunders; a sister, Venna Lee; and three grandchildren.
