J. R., of Orange, passed away Wednesday after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in the small logging town of Logansport, Louisiana to Amos and Quida (McCoy) Aaron, he was the first of nine children and he was a lifelong resident of the Orange area.

J. R. graduated from Stark High School, was an operator at the DuPont Sabine River Works plant in Orange with thirty one years of service retiring in 1993, was a deputy constable for Precinct 2 in Orange County, a member of the Orange County Sheriff Department Reserve program, an avid Ham Radio Operator and he was a member and a longtime supporter of the Orange Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Rosemary Slaton and Lucy Demming and his brother, Roy Aaron. Those who will most cherish his memory are his loving wife of forty five years, Evelyn Marie (Peveto) Aaron; his son, Steve Aaron and his wife, Cindy; his daughter, Janet Weeks and her husband Mark; his brothers, Danny Aaron, Howard Aaron and Larry Aaron; his sisters, Peggy Hudson and Sandra Thornton; his five grandchildren, Jessica, Joshua, Jade, and Jewell Weeks and Evan Aaron; his two great-grandchildren, Gracelynn and Aaron Hayes.

As per his wishes a private family gathering was held with cremation following and a memorial will be held at a later date at the Orange Chapter of the American Red Cross.
