Family lore maintains that Christina came from Germany when she was 13 with her sister, Marie Waterman, who married a Vossloh. However, records indicate that Marie came in 1882, when Christina was 13 and Marie sent for her in 1902, paying for her ticket on the ship Kronprinz Wilhelm. The ship departed Bremen on September 8 and arrived in New York on September 16, 1902. The ship's manifest indicated that Christina, age 23, was single and joining her sister, M. Vossloh, in Wamego, Kansas. The city of origin appears to be Cammer.
