HENDERSON, Tenn. - Annie Maude Scott Brown, 97, died Monday, March 24, 2009, at Chester County Healthcare in Henderson, Tenn. She had lived in Henderson, Tenn., since 2001. She was born Dec. 1, 1911, in Gibson County, Tenn., to Horace Hall Scott and Jessie Lee Midyett Scott. After receiving a B.S. degree in 1934 from Mississippi State College for Women at Columbus, she taught home economics for 23 years at Cedar Hill High School in Guntown and for another 20 years at Baldwyn High School, retiring in 1977.In 1995 she was inducted into the Future Homemakers of America National Hall of Fame. She was a member of the Church of Christ, and a retired homemaker and seamstress.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Shackleford's Casey Chapel in Henderson, Tenn. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the Prentiss County Memorial Gardens in Baldwyn.

Survivors include one sister, Janie Scott Greene of Centralia, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, LaVonne B. Scott of Henderson, Tenn., and Effie Mae Brown of Baldwyn; two nieces and four nephews, Doris Ann Tilghman Davenport (David), of Centralia, Ill., Susan Scott Bradford (Frank), Henderson, Terry Tilghman (Judy) of Guthrie, Ky., Mike Greene (Lynn) of Kenton, Tenn., Ralph Scott of Henderson, and Tom Scott of McMinnville, Tenn.; 11 great-nieces and great-nephews; and her caregiver, Dianne Baker of Bemis, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 50 years, John Edward Brown, in 1988;a brother, Thomas E. Scott; two brothers-in-law, Andrew Tilghman and Martin Greene; and a great-nephew, Andy Davenport.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home
