Donald L. (Mac) McGuire, 63, Wamego, died Saturday July 28, 1984, at Wamego City Hospital.

Mr. McGuire was born September 5, 1920 at Onaga and had been a resident of Wamego since 1954. He married Esther (Penny) Way at Talmo in 1947.

Mr McGuire graduated from Emporia State University and taught music in the school systems of Mankato, Glasco and Wamego. In 1958, he became a financial planner.

He was a veteran of WWII and served in the Army 21st Aviation Engineers. He organized and directed the show band of the Army 21st Aviation Engineers and was choir director at Wamego United Methodist Church for 27 years.

Mr. McGuire was a member and Past Master of Wamego Masonic Lodge, Wamego Order of the Eastern Star, Scottish Rites, Shrine Isis Temple at Salina, Manhattan Shrine Club, Kaw Valley Shrine Club and the American Legion Harold Johnson Post at Wamego.

He is survived by his wife, of the home.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wamego United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Wamego City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Shrine Crippled Children's Hospital and Burn Center and left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home at Wamego or the Kaw Valley Bank of Wamego.

Memorials may also be made to the Music Department of the Wamego United Methodist Church and left in care of the church or the funeral home.

Mr. McGuire will lie in state at the Stewart Funeral Home from 7 p.m. Sunday until Tuesday morning. He will then lie in state at Wamego United Methodist Church until service time.
