John Henry Butler

WINTERS -- John Henry Butler, 78, charter member of Southside Baptist Church, died Monday in an Abilene hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Winters Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Gayland Broadstreet and James Gehrels officiating. Burial will be in Bluff Creek Cemetery.

Mr. Butler was born in Bradshaw and lived in Runnels County most of his life. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and worked as a mechanic.

Survivors include four sons, Johnny D. Butler of Wingate, Walter Butler of Mariposa, Calif., Danny Butler of Vicksburg, Miss., and Roy Butler of Van Nuys, Calif.; one daughter, Betty Mullins of San Angelo; three brothers, W.T. "Bus" Butler of Bullhead, Ariz., Bill Butler of Winters and R.Q. Butler of Iraan; two sisters, Annie Mae Finny and Edith Bishop, both of Fresno, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to Southside Baptist Church in Winters.
