Paul Leroy Stewart, 65, of Kingwood Pike, Morgantown, W.Va., formerly of Waynesburg, passed away Monday, March 23, 2009, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, with his family by his side.

He was born May 18, 1943, in Waynesburg, a son of the late Raymond (Abe) J. Stewart and Ruth Conkey Stewart Kovalchek. He was a 1963 graduate of West Greene High School.

Mr. Stewart formerly was employed as an officer with the Perry Township Police Department and as a bus driver with Central Cab Co. of Waynesburg and GG&C Bus Co. of Washington. Most recently, he was employed with the West Virginia University Transportation Department, where he enjoyed shuttling the different athletic teams to their games and shuttling the numerous West Virginia University tours.

He was a very caring person who loved spending time every Sunday evening with his family. He also enjoyed visits from his daughter and son-in-law from North Carolina.

Mr. Stewart was raised on a farm and had a passion for animals. His most recent pastimes were riding his motorcycle and raising goats.

Mr. Stewart is survived by his loving wife, Lillian Virginia Dalton Stewart, with whom he simply enjoyed doing things on a daily basis.

He will be sadly missed by his only daughter, Jackie Negley and husband Brian of Statesville, N.C.; two stepdaughters, Sharon McMillen and Carol Hart and husband Steve of Morgantown; three stepgrandchildren, Zachary McMillen and girlfriend Susie Dailey, Tiffany Nuce and Kristen Nuce of Morgantown; and his mother-in-law, Doris Dalton of Morgantown.

Mr. Stewart also thought of Jabin, Ashley, Taylor and Colton Hart as his immediate family.

Also surviving are two brothers, Neil Stewart and wife Patty and John Stewart and wife Ruth of Waynesburg; a sister, Donna Wildman and husband Allan of Waynesburg; nieces and nephews Dale Wildman and wife Jessica, Scott Stewart and wife Shelly, Raymond Stewart and fiancee Darenda, Debra Gilbert and husband Tim and Jeremy Stewart; great-nieces and nephews Dalton, Tanner and Cassidy Stewart and Taylor, Tyler and Sidney Stewart; and his first wife, Connie Stewart.

In addition to his parents, deceased is his stepfather, John Kovalcheck.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and noon until 1 p.m. Friday, March 27, the time of services with the Rev. Elmer Nicholson officiating, in Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, Morgantown. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Morgantown.
