M.D. (Joe) Parks
Matthew David (Joe) Parks, 1831 Penn Street, Huntingdon, died at 11:40 a.m., Monday, April 19.1976, at Hershey Medical Center where he had been a patient since April 2. He had been in failing health for two months.
The deceased was born in Franklin County, July 20, 1910, a son of Joseph W. and Nellie Mae (Hockenberry) Parks.
His widow, the former Marion W. Feaster, survives, along with one daughter, Mrs. Eugene M. (Viki) Hoover, Huntingdon. One granddaughter, Michelle, also survives, along with two sisters, Mrs. Harold E. (Daisy) Kann, Huntingdon, and Mrs. George (Iva) Robinson, Huntingdon. One brother, Harry, preceded him in death.
Mr. Parks was of the Protestant faith.
He was a member of the Huntingdon Moose Lodge and he also belonged to the Railroad Brotherhood of Ways and Means. He worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and Penn Central for 48 years as a foreman, retiring in June, 1974.
He had been a resident of the Huntingdon area for 50 years.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Brown's funeral home, Huntingdon. The Rev. Harry E. Smyser will officiate, and interment will be made in Mountainview Cemetery, Mill Creek. Friends will be received at the funeral home after 7 p.m., Wednesday and from 9 a.m., Thursday, until the hour for the services.
