Mr. Elliott was a devout member of the Methodist Church, Dodson Lodge No. 289, F. & A. M., and a member of an outstanding family. "Uncle John" as he was affectionately known by a host of friends was an upright man and a splendid citizen and will be greatly missed. He attended Sunday School and church as long as his health would permit him to do so.
Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Lucy Ann Gaar, and the following sons and daughters, Mrs. W. C. Webb, of Alexandria; Mrs. E. W. Edmonds of Ruston; Mrs. L. W. Doucet of Washington; Mrs. Hugh Larson of Norphlet, Ark.; Almo Elliott, Ashford Elliott, Dodson; two brothers, E. E. Elliott of Olla and E. M. Elliott of Shreveport; and others.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. at the Methodist Church. Rev. I. A. Patton of Monroe, pastor of the church with which the deceased was affiliated, and Rev. S. G. Rodgers of Pineville, pastor of the Dodson Baptist Church, officiated. Interment was in the New Hope Cemetery.
Acting as pallbearers were H. R. Sylvest, A. L. Mixon, Wilbur Sholars, W. D. Temple, E. J. Hogan, J. R. Edmonds.
