Clara Bell Alvord, was born 5 November 1871, in Syracuse, Onondaga, New York.

On the First day of November 1893, at twenty-one years of age; Clara Bell Alvord, would marry into a prominent Denver family; when on that day, she became the bride of Charles Joseph Barth, son of, William & Charlotte (Kaempfer) Barth, in Denver, Colorado.

They were soon to be blessed, with the birth of their beautiful daughter; when on the 3rd January 1895, Charlotte Bell Alvord Barth, was born, in Denver, Colorado.

Sadly, there time together was cut short; when just twenty-two months later, Clara Bell (Alvord) Barth, would die, on the 23 October 1896, in Denver, Colorado. She would be tenderly laid to rest; at Riverside Cemetery, Denver, Colorado, in the Barth Family Plot.

Barth family members that she joined there that day in 1896 were: Anna (Nell) Barth, 1st wife of Wm. Barth, with daughter, Lillie Barth, buried together in 1865, having died in childbirth. Also there she joined, Pauline Barth, daughter of Wm. & Anna (Nell) Barth, buried in 1880. Other Barth members who joined later were: Charlotte (Kaempfer) Barth, 2nd. wife of Wm. Barth, buried in 1909. Followed by Charles Joseph Barth, son of Wm. & Charlotte (Kaempfer) Barth, husband of Clara Bell (Alvord) Barth, father of, Charlotte Barth, buried in 1911. Then followed by William Barth, buried in 1914. And finally, Charlotte Bell Alvord (Barth) Howell, joined all the other Barth family members, in 1977; which included her beloved parents, Charles Joseph & Clara Bell (Alvord) Barth.

A visitor looking at the grave marker of Clara Bell (Alvord) Barth, may wonder why the stone cutter carved the name (Alford) instead. So let me share with you the explanation given by her granddaughter, Barbara Elaine (Howell) Luckadoo, here is what she said: In German the (V) and (F) sounds are so similar, it would be easy to transpose them in spelling.

And so here together, in the Barth Family Plot, they all rest in eternal peace; and may God forever bless their souls...

Note:
Clara Bell Alvord was a descendant of Alexander Alford - the first Alvord in America. The change in spelling is an historical mystery.
