Following her marriage in 1865 to George Lehner, she became a member of First Lutheran Church and took an active part in the work of the congregation. She was a teacher in the Sunday school and a member of the church choir.
With a deep concern for the spiritual life of her children, she took them regularly to all of the services of the church and to catechetical classes. Among the teachers of this period was George Messersmith, then superintendent of the Sunday school; Mrs. D. K. Wunderlich, teacher of the infant department, and Miss Lucy Messersmith and Miss Ida Hamsher, assistants. Later in the adult department of the Sunday school, the children came under the instruction and inspiration of Mrs. Catherine Hamilton, D. M. Lesher, Prof. Samuel Gelwix, Miss Kate Radebaugh and their mother. The Reverend A. Stewart Hartman, D. D., was the pastor of the church during the childhood and early life of the Lehner children.
Mrs. Lehner died on January 29, 1923. Funeral services were conducted by her pastor, the Reverend Henry Anstadt, D. D., who in a beautiful tribute to her Christian life and character referred to her as a "saint". Burial was made in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
