Daniel was a Civil War veteran served in the Union army from 1862 thru 1865. He served in Co.B 3rd Regiment Colorado Infantry as a Private. Later transfering over to Co.I 2nd Colorado Cavalry. Sadly he was often troubled with stomach disorders,and chronic Arthritis. He was the son of Jacob Gift and Mary Wintrow. Father of Charles A Gift, Nellie May(Gift)(Turnipseed)Garland, Francis Orrin Gift, Edgar Daniel Gift, George Elmer Gift, Unknown Name, John R Gift, Husband to Charlotte E Welch,and Grandson too, Jacob Gift and Catherine Phillips.
